Rendering and Animation

SketchUp render settings are organized by the scene manager. Camera, environment, light and apperance of the model are stored in scene tabs. The 2D image export function enables output of renderings with reasonable quality. For high end renderings a third party renderer is recommended. We used Shaderlight from ArtVPS. Shaderlight applies a.o. the image based lightning technology, enables setting of different light sources, supports material editing and animation.

An animation is exported from Sketchup as an AVI file interpolating between scenes. The scene settings can be supported by Ruby plugins like SUAnimate or Flightpath and others. We merged in our animation the digital 3D model and historic photos. The effect of movement in the photos is provided from the software Photofilmstrip. A small sample converted into a Flash format is presented on this site. Other animations can be found on YouTube.
